Bread pakora is a popular Indian street food which is a savory delight that combines the flavor of fried bread slices with a flavourful besan batter. I am making four bread pakora here.


Ingredients needed for bread pakora 

● Four pices of bread 

● Two potatoes 

● Black pepper powder 

● Coriander powder 

● Cumin powder 

● Red chili powder 

● Salt 

● Garam masala powder 

● Coriander leaves

Prepare the filling for the bread pakora 

  1. Boil the two potatoes after peeling the skin.
  2. After the potatoes are boiled mash the potatoes together.

  3. Take the mashed potatoes in a mixing bowl and add salt, Red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder.

  4. Also add garam masala powder, black pepper powder and coriander leaves and mix with the mashed potatoes properly.

Making the bread pakoras

  1. Take a slice of bread and apply the filling on it and press another bread slice on it, and keep it aside.

  2. Take the another and apply the filling on it and press another bread slice on it.
  3. Take the first prepared bread and cut it diagonally into two halves.

  4. Cut the second prepared bread in the same way into two halves.

  5. Now take a mixing bowl and take besan in it add a pinch of salt, red chili powder and some turmeric powder and mix all the ingredients together.

  6. Now add water and mix the besan into a heavy to light consistency and prepare it properly, and removing the air bubbles.

And now we have four bread pakoras to be made.

Frying the bread pakora 

  • Take a iron kadhai and add refined oil and let the oil to get heated.

  • When the oil is heated take a bread pakora apply the prepared besan mixture into a layer on both sides of the bread pakora.

  • Put this layered bread into the heated oil and fry the bread pakora.

  • Add another bread pakora to fry in the oil by layering it with besan on both the sides.
  • Fry the pakoras nicely from both the sides until they are brown in colour.
  • Now after frying take the pakoras at the side so that the extra oil comes out and now take the fried bread pakora and put it on another plate.

  • Fry the other bread pakora in the same manner.
The bread pakora are now ready to be served..

1. Always make sure to boil potatoes until they are just cooked, overlooking can make them soggy which is not ideal for stuffing.
